REDUCED ITEM LISTING - You will not pay near the origional MSRP of $1399-1499. Last posted HP Shopping $999 for this unit. You will not even pay $350-$500 as listed by other eBay seller's; possibly for even "used". Reduced because it is not packed in the retail box and may have several minor blemishes; unit may have a few white marks on the very bottom which look like chalk marks due to shipping. This setup includes as pictured (see content list also). Any minor cosmetic issue is minimal and would not affect any function of the unit.
The Start Bid and the Buy It Now reflect the aforementioned. Please note that similar which may not even be fully inclusive of all parts, especially software are listing from $500-$800. You receive all the same components for immediate operation which would be found in the box. Owner's Manual is also located on the install disk #2. Bonus Software with this setup includes Adobe Photo Shop Elements, Read Iris Pro OCR and Scansoft PaperPort. Paperport is a complete office filing system program for creating a "paperless office"; included software is a value of up to $500 alone. Because these units are shipped in quantity, there may be some very minor markings on the bottom of the units which cannot be noted unless turned upside down. This has absolutely no affect on the function of the scanner.
XPA Adapter included does not have a template holder which is not necessary for scanning slides and negatives. Should you desire a template one can easily be made using a standard size piece of cardstock, or cardboard. Simply place the xpa in the middle, trace around the xpa, cut out the traced area and you have a template to place the xpa into on the scanner glass.

Serial Numbers: Scanner base/body holds a designated HP serial number plate. Automatic Document Feeder also has a different/seperate HP serial number plate. On NIB Scanners with an ADF, HP not only maintains the basic serial number of the scanner found on the box UPC label, but also has a record of the corresponding ADF attached to this particular scanner setup. Where applicable/available these serial numbers are photo archived in the event "any problem" should arise with this item, or ANY question regarding a refund issue related to a complaint of "not as described", or "item received not working." Serial numbers are denoted on the "shipping box label", your shipping notification and as on the listing copy you receive. Photo serial number documentation is maintained with the "listing archive photos" for a period of three months.

Originates from HP Reseller; out-stock. These are "open box stock," or no retail box. They are NOT "used" and we never receive, or sell refurbished units; we have found, "once a lemon, always usually a lemon." This is the 7650 High Resolution, photo quality, 2400x2400 Resolution, 48 bit ScanJet by HP. The 7650 is built as a professional, heavy duty, high quality scanner; one of HP's "workhorses." The 7650 is like a miniaturization of the 8250 and 8290 (not having a legal sized scanning bed). Not to worry though, the 7650 will not only DUPLEX, but will also scan and format legal documents thru the ADF. This scanner was also built as a photo scanner as well as document scanning and formatting. To scan slides and negatives, simply insert either slides, or negatives into the XPA adapter, set the XPA on the scanning glass (if you have made a template, place the xpa in the cut-out area), choose "scan using xpa" from the scan menu and "whala" you have your slides and negatives scanned to edit with the included software. Photos can be simply grouped on the glass, select a "preview scan" and then, using the curser to outline, scan and save each individual photo; the ADF of a scanner with ADF is NOT intended for use as a "photo feeder." Now, you can save, edit, or email your slides and negatives which have been covered to digital photos. You can perform high quality scans of photos which are now digitalized to save, print, or share. Built for quality and durability to give years of service. Being new, this is an investment for "years." Again, it was designed also for photo quality scanning (2400x2400dpi) and produces "excellent" photo quality scans. THIS IS A GREAT DEAL FOR A DUPLEXING SCANNER WITH ADF WHICH RETAILED FOR $1000. The setup is complete as would have been packaged in the retail box EXCEPT FOR the manual and SCSI Kit. The manual is available for download and contained on the install disks and SCSI Kit not included this package as some buyer's may only need a the USB-2 connection and do not need the extra cost of the SCSI Kit/Module. These units "may" have a very minor cosmetic flaw which would only be noted using extreme scrutiny. The units are repackaged to include all the origional parts other than aforementioned. We receive items daily, purchased as liquidations, overstock sales, closeouts, bankruptcy and hp reseller items. These units may be those which did not pass final inspection as retail box sales due to a very minor cosmetic issue, units which had be designated as "replacement" units for warranty issues which are no longer needed and retail returns/liquidations. They do not have a "major" flaw, or this would be noted and photographed in a "Reduced Item Listing." There may be some faint rub marks on the very bottoms of the units simply due to shipping. Six months ago you would not been able to find this unit with a "start bid" of less than $400 and a "Buy It Now" price of well over $500. Even a "used" unit at this pricing would be well worth this cost. It is not only a high resolution scanner, but the 8290 Automatic Document Feeder offers you high speed, duplex scanning, USB or SCSI connectivity with included accessories and "optional SCSI kit." This unit does consist of an oversized, legal size scanning bed and the ADF is auto duplex. The software offers you the versatility needed not only in business, but also for the home and home office user. This is your opportunity to own a unit that would have never been in most peoples expense range at a mere fraction of the origional cost. Please Note, you are NOT simply bidding on a "stand alone" unit. You are bidding on a "complete," new unit. You not only receive the Scanjet 8290 HS Scanner and ADF w/ Power Adapter and USB connection as some seller's offer "used", but also the complete scanning software including the Vista Suite for Scanjet 8200, PaperPort 10, Kofax Tools and Adobe Photoshop Elements. Why are these units so low cost in comparison to the origional retail? Only because they are now a previous model and not packaged in the origional retail boxes. Serial Numbers: My listings all document serial numbers of the scanner unit and the ADF Unit. Scanner base/body holds a designated HP serial number plate. Automatic Document Feeder also has a different/seperate HP serial number plate. On NIB Scanners with an ADF, HP not only maintains the basic serial number of the scanner found on the box UPC label, but also maintains the SN# of the associated ADF included with this particular scanner setup. Serial numbers are photo archived in the event "any issue" should arise with this item regarding exchange/refund, issue of "not as described", or "item received not working." Serial numbers are denoted on the "shipping box Item Label"and as on the listing copy you receive. Photo serial number documentation is maintained with the "listing archive photos" for a period of three months. Serial number documentation is solely for the purpose of "avoiding any issue" of a return of items "not" originally delivered to a buyer.
PLEASE NOTE: As you are comparing scanners and prices on Ebay be sure to read the listings carefully, including the bottoms and the fine print. You may find this model scanner at a lower start bid, or at a lower "buy it now" price. However, to find this model "new" and at a lower price many sellers are offering you a "refurb." Also, many series are sold with "missing parts" including the paper input tray which is VERY hard to locate. If you do find it, you will pay dearly for it. Many are sold without the power adapters, sold "as is" without any guarantees.
WARRANTY: One of the biggest claims I see from seller's is "full hp warranty." Well, I am here to tell you that this is not true. First, hp will not warranty an older model. Should you call hp re: a Warranty Issue and when the wserial number is pulled up by the Hp Representative, you will immediately hear, "I'm sorry, this units warranty is shown as expired." When manufacture the serial numbers are logged into a computer bank and "automatically expire" within a certain number of months after the date of manufacture. A product manufatured such as three years previous, the warranty has "automatically" expired. Also, HP will usually take the position that any hp product bought on EBay, Buy.com, Amazon, etc., even with a receipt will not be "factory" warranted stating, "we cannot verify the condition of your purchase as new." This is the primary reason I have aligned with Square Trade to offer a buyer the "Square Trade, Three Year Warranty" which you will find is at an "unbelievably" low cost in comparison to a "manufaturer warranty."
Please Note: With the introduction of Windows 64 and the new Windows Vista, there are only a few hp scanners which will operate with these new operating systems. The 8200 series IS ONE OF THOSE. Functional for another 10 years based on the viability of past operating systems. "Full Feature Drivers" for VISTA/Updated XP are INCLUDED WITH YOUR NEW SCANNER; NO NEED TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING. It is my understanding that the "soon to be released" Window's 7 will be based on a revamped Vista Operating System and that programs designed as compatible with Vista will operate on the new system also.

THINKING OF , OR NEEDING A NEW SCANNER?
First, consider this. The HP 8250 and 8290 scanners both weigh about 26#. Other smaller models weigh from 12-17#. What does this tell you about the construction of the scanner itself? Yes, built as a "much more durable" scanner in general. Both the 8250 and 8290 are Vista Ready and are both "duplexing scanners" with an legal, oversize, size scanning bed. The major difference between the 8250 and the 8290 is found in the automatic document feeder. The 8250 scans @15ppm and 8290 will scan 25 ppm . Both can be connected USB, or via SCSI with the "SCSI module" and kit which simply plugs in to the back of the scanner alongside the power adapter plug-in (included with some 8290 packages). The 8250 retailed initially for about $1200 while the 8290 initially retailed for about $1800. Now, you have both of these models, new scanners which are selling for under $500! Scanner prices on Ebay as well as on hp.com do fluctuate weekly, controlled by market demand. My start bid price is an "unbeatable" start bid price for the unit you will receive. This price will not go lower, but may actually increase with supply/demand changes. Upgrade, or replace now as at these prices they will be gone shortly and you may be missing one of the greatest deals currently on Ebay for hp's "best". Just two months ago an 8250 had a start bid of over $600 and the 8290 of still over $800!
The scanner and the operational setup is complete; install the software, connect via USB, or OPTIONAL SCSI if applicable/included, plug it in and you are ready to scan. SCSI is not compatible with Vista, but with the advent of HP USB-2 that is actually a faster connection speed. Software for Paper Port, HP Commercial Document Management Disk with 5 programs including Pixel Transitions and Isis as well as scanning software for Windows and Mac including; the VISTA/Updated XP software. Shipped in shipping box. The scanner is repackaged to include the origional setup as described in the listing . Feedback on these has been overwhelmingly positive. Please feel free to check feedback on the HP Scanjet 8290 as all from same suppliers. This is not a "retail" box item, it has been repackaged for sale and for shipping. This is new equipment. Only item missing is the owners manual which can be easily downloaded in PDF format for easy printing, or to be conveniently placed on your desktop for quick reference. The manual is also located on the Installation Disk. Because the units are shipped via pallet which can rub, there may be some small marks on the very bottom which can only be noted if the unit is turned upside down. It is recommended for business' by many IT professionals for those needing to scan and save numerous amounts of files. Perfect for any area of document management, "paperless office," file management as well as photo copying and editing. It has a "built in" 35mm negative and slide copying xpa for lab quality photo management. Works perfectly in conjunction with all word processing, spreadsheet and photo programs thru the Twain enabled drivers which automatically link to these programs.

It is unbelievable as only a short time ago the 7490c, an older model with less features had a beginning start bid of $499 and the 8290 would have started at a bid of WELL over $400. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING TIME is one-two days of purchase excluding weekends AND I DO EXPECT A "5 STAR RATING" ON SHIPPING TIME. I ship via USPS "International Priority," or "International Express." These methods of transport state they have a shipping time of 5-8 days; THIS IS NOT GURANTEED. One ship to Spain just took 21 days including the time it spent in Customs. The buyer just left me negative feedback because of this issue which is totally unacceptable. I CANNOT CONTROL THE USPS, OR THE "CONSIGNEE" WHICH MAY BE CONTRACTED AS YOUR POSTAL CARRIER; I CANNOT CONTROL THE TIME INVOLVED WITH DELIVERY once I have shipped the item.
